Bill Needham, his son, and daughter built this VW pan based buggy in the 1970s. They found it covered with weeds and mud in the backyard of a home in Henderson, Nevada.
The make of the Manx style body is unknown. Bill ran two engines; a 1914-cc for the drags and a 1641-cc for the dunes. He raced the buggy in Bracket 4 and 5. The buggy ran mid four second elapsed times. Oh yea, he also stepped up to alcohol and later NOS. Per Bill…”The Jeeps hated me back then.”
Bill primarily raced the dry lake track at Eldorado Canyon outside of Bolder City, Nevada but also ran Armargosa Valley (NV) and Kingman (AZ).
Whether Bill was racing or duning, he said “This thing was a BLAST!”
